Challenge:

Create a mobile CNN Politics quiz app that will allow users to see which politician they align with based solely on political issues. The user group for this app are millennials.

Goal:

Create an survey app that is easily understood and be completed quickly. People do not like completing surveys so the experience has to enjoyable. Knowing the user group would be familiar with swiping to cast a positive or negative vote I decided to use swiping interactions similar to the tinder app.

Wireframes

The app first introduces the user to the rules of the quiz. After reading, the user starts the quiz by tapping “GO”. I wanted to include a timer to get a user’s “gut” reaction. After voting the user is quickly moved through the quiz. Finally, after answering all of the questions the user will see what candidate their views align with. This page would be shareable through Facebook and Twitter.

Design

To bring a political feel to the app a red to blue gradient is used prominently as the background. Thumbs up and down icons cue the user to the swipe interaction to vote positive or negatively. As you swipe up or down the thumb icons increases in size giving the user more feedback on how they are voting. After the user completes their swipe they are met with a enlarged icon of their vote in the center of the screen.
