Creative Culture
“Part of maintaining a thriving creative culture is giving people time and permission to play.”
Strong creative culture facilitates increased collaboration, innovation and ultimately increases productivity. Below are several creative projects that I have collaboratively implemented to establish a creative culture where people enjoy both work and play.
HLN Hackathon
After participating a couple of the TURNER Hackathons I saw great value in bringing this exercise to my organization. The design, editorial and technical teams divided into three groups and were tasked to solve these challenges over the course of two days. This exercise allowed us to problem solve in a way the HLN network had never done before. We usually work in siloed groups. Editorial request a graphic, design creates the graphic and the technical team executes the graphic from the control room. Working in diverse groups allowed a fresh perspective and gave us solutions we would not have produced from our prior workflow.
Design Challenges Project Page
I created a facebook page for our designers to take on various design challenges. These challenges would allow members to explore and play in design disciplines outside of their roles at work. This would allow them opportunities to grow in new areas.
